Step 1.
Follow the steps of the fish base up to and including step 11.

- The folding consists of two double-thickness triangular flaps (one front and one back) connected by a hinge edge at the bottom.

Step 2.
Flip the folding from top to bottom.

Step 3.
Form a valley fold by bringing the hypotenuse of the small front flap from right to left, along the vertical axis.
Crease well and leave folded.
Step 4.
Turn the folding from right to left.
Step 5.
Form a valley fold by bringing the hypotenuse of the small front flap from left to right, along the vertical axis.
Crease well and leave folded.

- Two small tips stick out above the top edge of the fold (they will become the ears).
- The back of the ears (right side) and the top horizontal edge of the fold form a right angle (90°).
Step 6.
Make a valley fold, bringing from left to right, the left tip of the fold 1 cm to the right of the vertical right edge of the ears.
The end of the free tip of this new front flap should be slightly above the top horizontal edge of the back flap.
Crease the fold firmly, turn this valley fold into a mountain fold, then unfold.
Step 7.
Mark on the top horizontal edge of the fold a point located 2 or 3 mm to the left of the left tip of the ears.
Make a diagonal mountain fold through all layers connecting the bottom tip of the fold and the point marked in the previous instruction.
Clearly mark the fold, turn this mountain fold into a valley fold, then unfold.

- We now have, on the left side of the folding, two successive valley/mountain folds that are not parallel.
Step 8.
Turn the two previous folds into exterior reverse folds.

- You need to start with the fold closest to the ears.
- The final result gives a successive nesting of 3 triangular pockets, which can be described as 4 layers:
- On the left of the fold, an external triangular pocket with its opening on the bottom edge. This is the first layer.
- In the middle of the fold, an intermediate triangular pocket with its opening on the right edge. This is the second layer.
- Inside the middle pocket, the small points that will form the ears. This is the third layer.
- On the right of the fold between the ears, an internal triangular pocket with an opening located on the upper edge side. This is the fourth layer.
- The external left pocket encompasses the middle intermediate pocket, which largely covers the ears, between which the internal pocket is situated.
Step 9.
Form a vertical valley fold, bringing the right point of the fold from right to left, at the 90° right angle at the vertical right edge of the ears.
The horizontal top edge of this new front flap should be aligned with the horizontal top edge of the back flap.
Firmly crease the fold, convert this valley fold into a mountain fold, then unfold.
Step 10.
Identify a point on the lower edge of the folding, located 5 mm to the left of the valley/mountain fold created in the previous step.
At the marked point, make an oblique mountain fold by bringing the right part of the fold from right to left.
The lower edge of this new back flap must be aligned with the lower edge of the front flap.
Firmly crease the fold, convert this mountain fold into a valley fold, then unfold.

- We now have on the right part of the fold two successive non-parallel valley/mountain folds.

Convert the two previous folds into inside reverse folds.

- You should start with the fold closest to the ears.
- The final result of the folding gives a successive nesting of 5 pockets that can be described as 6 layers:
- On the left of the fold, an external triangular pocket with its opening on the lower edge. This is the first layer.
- In the middle of the fold, an intermediate triangular pocket with its opening on the right edge. This is the second layer.
- Inside the intermediate pocket, the small points that will become the ears. This is the third layer.
- On the right of the fold between the ears, a 4-sided pocket with openings on the left and bottom edges. This is the fourth layer.

- Inside of this, an internal triangular pocket whose opening is on the oblique lower edge side. This is the sixth layer.
Step 12.
Form a vertical valley fold, bringing from left to right, the left tip of the fold, up to the top tip of the fold (the one in front of the ears).
The top edge of this new front flap must be aligned with the top edge of the back flap.
Mark the fold well, turn this valley fold into a mountain fold, then return it to a valley fold.
Step 13.
Locate on the lower edge of the front flap a point situated 5 mm to the right of the left edge.
At the located point, form a valley fold by bringing from right to left, the right part of the front flap.
The lower edge of this new front flap must be aligned with the lower edge of the middle flap.
The tip of this small front flap looks like a beak pointing at 8 o'clock that extends over the left side of the fold.
Clearly mark the fold, turn this valley fold into a mountain fold, then unfold the two folds present on the left side of the fold.

Step 14.
Turn the two previous folds into inside reverse folds.

Step 15.
Open the left tip of the fold, and fold it back on itself upwards to form the snout.

Step 16.
Slide a finger between the left ear and the front flap of the 4-sided pocket.
Form a vertical mountain fold by bringing the right side of the neckline between the ear and the left flank of the animal.

Step 17.
Turn the folding from right to left.

Step 18.
Slide a finger between the right ear and the front flap of the 4-sided pocket.
Form a vertical mountain fold by bringing the left side of the neckline between the ear and the right flank of the animal.
Well crease the fold and leave it folded.
Step 19.
Turn the folding from right to left, then completely open the right tip of the folding, and fold it back on itself upward to form the tail.

- On the table side and ceiling side, one can feel a change in thickness between the back of the ear and the lower left tip.
Step 20.
Locate, with the thumb of the left hand, on the left side of the animal, the point situated one-third to the right of the change in thickness and one-third below the back line.
Step 21.
Slide the index finger of the left hand inside the 4-sided pocket, and place it at the level of the thumb to hold the fold.
Step 22.
Make a mountain fold connecting the point located under the thumb and the lower right corner of the front flap of the 4-sided pocket.
Step 23.
Make a mountain fold connecting the point located under the thumb and the lower left corner of the front flap of the 4-sided pocket.

- The lower part of the front flap of the 4-sided pocket forms a sort of hollow defined by the two mountain folds created previously.
Step 24.
Turn the fold from right to left, and replicate the mountain folds on the other side so that both sides are symmetrical.

Hold the fold between the thumb and index finger of the right hand so that the front legs and the back legs are on each side of the thumb and the index finger rests on the back.
